January 2013 Blog

Happy new year to all our customers.  Everyone is fully rested and slowly getting back into the swing of things.  We have added quite a lot of positive feed back to our Testimonials page, please have a look.  Not as many service and repairs have come in but this normal for January.  We are having a new updated website which will be live next month.  His and hers Cartier watches came in for servicing, we gave the customer discount for sending in two watches at the same time.  The ultrasonic tank we bought last November is great, so good be have bought an other one.  We had a vintage Heuer Carrera chronograph in for repair, which had a worn damaged base plate.  We had to do various work on the base plate; like fitting new posts, turning collets, closing holes and re- jeweling as well as resetting all the chronograph mechanism which had been damaged.  ClockWorld Online is 12 months old and has been doing really well.  Email enquires picked up towards the end of the month so we are expecting February to very busy.

December 2012 Blog

December was off the scale!  Open for 23 straight days in a row.  All of the service and repairs we promised back have now been returned so we have a lot of happy customers.  A nice Panerai California came in, usual amount of Rolex, Tag Heuer, Zenith and Omega watches came in.  Couple of Breitling Bentley watches arrived.  Different customers though.  We don't get too many of these in. We are now closed till January the 7th, we all need a rest.

November 2012 Blog

We have been flat out this month and this will continue into December.  The workshop has been open 6 days a week now and will be open 7 days a week in December in order to get all the service and repairs out before Christmas.  Usual amount of watches have come in.  Couple of rare Rolex watches and some nice Breitling watches also.  Email enquires have been really busy this month, more than normal.  We have had to tell a few customers when replying that we cannot start the watches until January!  We up graded one of ultrasonic tanks as we need more room for bracelets and watch cases.

October 2012 Blog

September has been and gone and we are making sure that all the watch repairs booked in this month are going to be finished before Christmas.  Some vintage watches take along time so the customers are informed of the extended times scales on these types of watches.  We have had a few vintage Heuer watches come in for repair.  We could do all but one of them.  This was because the watch was unfortunately too badly water damaged.  Rolex watch repairs coming in had dropped off this month but Raymond Weil watch repairs had really picked up, lots of email enquiries regarding these watches.  Nothing unusual or rare has come in for repair or service this month but these still is a couple of days left.  Customers have been wanting there Tag Heuer been blasted after seeing our pictures of our blaster on our workshop page.  Pleased to see people reading our website.

September 2012 Blog

Rolex Rolex Rolex!  We are busy this brand at the moment.  We have booked in lots of watches this month but Rolex has just pipped Tag Heuer for the first time.  We have had a few Rado watches also come in for various repairs.  Our compressor blew for the satin blaster so we had a small back log of watch cases that needed a satin finish.  A new compressor arrived within a week or two.  Don't like to bring up the word Christmas too early but we are preparing for the rush as people like to have the watches serviced and cleaned before the Christmas break.  A few vintage watches were completed, these were restoration jobs so the customers were pleased.

Omega Seamaster
Omega Seamaster

What's cooler, astronauts or James Bond? It's the stuff playground arguments are made of, but when it's a toss up between Omega's Speedmaster moonwatch or the timepiece flaunted by Britain's sheckshiest secret agent, we reckon its an even match. Features a sapphire crystal face for scratch resistance and a body waterproof to 600m. Does not feature a laser or remote detonator.

Graham Mercedes GP Trakmaster
Graham Mercedes GP Trakmaster

Graham Mercedes GP Trackmaster.  Launched for the British Grand Prix earlier this year to celebrate the partnership between Graham and the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team, with the colours of the watch and team logos complimenting each other, the GP Trackmaster features a rubber tyre-detail strap, is water resistant to 100m, has an automatic movement, fixed bezel and delightfully chunky start/stop lever and reset buttons. An exquisite watch from centuries-old English watchmakers.

August 2012 Blog

The Oylmpic games were great!  The whole workshop was glued to the TV at night and we had the radio on for updates on the medal tally.  The enquires picked up and we were as busy as ever.  Lots of Zenith watches game in and larger number than usual amount of Tag Heuer watches came in too.  The Rolex fathometer was delivered and we unpacked it straight away.  We started using it and its been great so far.  We can use it on other brands not just Rolex watches.  So if you have a professional divers watch we can test your watch to real deep depths.  We booked in two of the same Frank Muller watches from two different customers, that's never happened before.  The football season has started so the usual rivalry in the workshop between Manchester United and Manchester City has started.  September should be busy as a lot of vintage watches we have in for repair and servicing should be completed.

July 2012 Blog

A busy month this month, especially with email enquires through our contact form.  Its funny how google works sometimes because we seem to get alot of enquires from one large area at a time.  This month it seemed to be in the London area and Kent.  We don't mind as we service and repair watches from all over the country.  We ordered the new Rolex Fathometer this month, its a wet pressure tester for all Rolex watches including Submariner and Sea Dwellers.  We cannot wait till this arrives. The last few days of the month enquires and hits on our site dropped and this was down to the Olympic games. Everyone was glued to the TV to cheer on team GB.

June 2012 Blog

June seemed to fly by very quickly in our watch repair workshop. The Diamond Jubilee and the Euro Championships were a welcome distraction. A vintage Bruen watch was completed. The movement had a small rotor weight rather than a large one bolted to the back of the movement. We had four Tag Heuer Monaco watches come in for repair in one day. That was a real surprise, I doubt that will ever happen again. A good amount of Rolex watches came in also. Not many Zenith watches came in for servicing, I think it was about four that came in. We are finding fashion branded watches are being sent in for repair. People are choosing to repair rather than replace their watches.

Cartier Masse Secrete Panther Decor Watch Calibre 9603 MC
Cartier Masse Secrete Panther Decor Watch Calibre 9603 MC

The perfectly-poised panther dashes through the hours, bringing feline agility to this round watch. Playful and powerful, the hero of the Cartier Bestiary tames the movement to the beat of its bejewelled oscillations. In the grand tradition of watchmaking secrets, this ladies’ complication watch is a true feat of high-tech invention. The oscillating weight of the watch has been inverted and takes the dramatic form of a panther set with diamonds. Cartier complements the functionality of the weight with a stylish House motif: a three-dimensional panther secretly linked to the calibre, making the big cat seem to prowl all the way around the inky mother-of-pearl dial. The panther stealthily patrols the hours one by one within a bezel set with multiple rows of diamonds.

May 2012 Blog

A good steady amount of work came in this month. Lots of Rolex watches and Tag heuer watches in for service and repair. Nothing really noticeable on the rare or collectible front. Probably a lot more gold watches in for repair. Its funny how watches come in for repair in waves. We posted out 74 completed repairs, this was because March and April were busier than normal.  Normally we would see 74 returned watches around the busy Christmas rush. Dreading the special delivery bill!!!!

More Rolex watch repairs came in this month for servicing than ever before!!!

We visited the Basel world watch fair in March and we saw some interesting watches on display. We always take a trip every couple of years to keep update with latest watches hitting the jewellery shops. The Basel watch fair trip isn’t just about the new watches being released it’s also about visiting the tool halls. We can spend just as much time in those halls looking at all the latest tooling and equipment. You could spend a fortune if you’re not careful. We do have our eye on a couple of tools that we will purchase at some point this year.

We had a record April this year, we received in more watches for repair this April than any other April in our history. Let’s hope May is a busy month!  Quite a few classic Rolex watches came in and lots of Tag Heuer quartz chronograph watches too.

 Richard Mille RM 037
Richard Mille RM 037

Richard Mille is pleased to present today a landmark new timepiece, the RM 037 and the new automatic caliber CRMA1. It represents an original in-house construction by the Richard Mille movement designers in Les Breuleux, Switzerland. This automatic winding caliber created from skeletonized grade 5 titanium sports an oversize date at 12 o'clock and a function window at 4 o' clock. Two subtly shaped pushers are located at 4 and 10 o’clock. The pusher at 4 o'clock allows one to select the winding (W), neutral (N) and hand setting (H) functions with a simple push. An aperture located at 4 o'clock shows the function selected.

Rolex Daytona Rainbow
Rolex Daytona Rainbow

The timepiece sports the classic Daytona case shape and face layout, however, what makes this particular model unique, is that its case is constructed of White Gold and the bezel is encrusted with baguette-cut sapphires that creates a rainbow frame around the timepiece’s face. While many watches on the market feature diamonds, sapphires and other jewels, no other production timepiece on the market offers this extraordinary colour burst! The Daytona Rainbow won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, however, those watch lovers out there that love a bit of bling on their wrist will love this piece!

March 2012 Blog

February turned out to be busy month for watches booked in for repair.   The start of the month was unusually quiet but it soon picked up.  Nothing unusual was booked in, in fact a lot of the watches were within ten years old having their first or second service.   Watches have to be services every three to five years to keep them running accurately.

Our latest Rolex tooling arrived this month from Rolex in Switzerland.  It is Monitor CST3 moisture detector.  A machine for detecting condensation inside the case of a Rolex watch.
Monitor CST3 moisture detector

This machine tests the water resistance of a watch case by detecting the presence of water inside the case.  The case is heated to a predetermined temperature for a length of time that is programmed for each model and type of watch.  The glass is then cooled to generate a heat shock that will cause condensation to form on the inside of the inside of the crystal if there is any water inside the case.   Any watch repair company servicing and repairing Rolex watches has to have this machine.

Basel watch fair starts this month so we will have lots of info on the latest models of watches from the big Swiss brands.

February 2012 Blog

January has ended and it was a very busy month.  Lots of watches finished that were awaiting parts from the manufacturers from over the Christmas period, so we had lots of happy customers receiving their watches back.  Now it's time to start on the watch repairs we booked in for repair in January.  A mixed verity of watches were booked in.   A lot of vintage Omega watches have come in and many are having the watch dial restored.  Two Heuer quartz watches came in for service, always good to see these old Heuer watches still in good working order.  Quite a few water damaged watches came in throughout January, so a lot of de-rusting and large parts orders are predicted for February.  The usual amount of Rolex watches and Tag Heuer watches have been booked in so we will be making our way through servicing and repairing these.

The new Rolex case construction tooling has arrived!
